Graham Dawes-
Bexhill Rowing Club Chairman

Being asked to provide a reference for someone can be very difficult especially when it involves sport, unless of course you are friends with the like of Sir Steve Redgrave!

Well here goes, in the years I have been rowing there have been only a handful of coastal rowers that have made a great impression on me. A few regretfully have since passed away whilst the rest are still battling with the elements. Some rowers are still making their mark on rowing around the country and I am sure that Matt, Nick and Phil will join this elite group the way their rowing careers have progressed over the last few years.

Matt has been rowing for just 4 years where as Nick and Phil have been involved with the Bexhill Rowing Club for over 10. In this period of time they have impressed me with their commitment to win and still be fine club members, helping new members off and on the water. They always dedicate time to train hard and this is why they have a string of Championships Medals under their belts.

Taking part in the Indian Ocean Rowing Race 2009 only goes to prove how dedicated (and stupid) these young men are to rowing. Therefore whatever task is put before them, I know they will put 110% of their time and effort into the preparation and the taking part. May the tide be with them.
